Tim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan. He then attended Western Michigan University, where he received his Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology. Tim is currently a Limited Licensed Psychologist as well as a Limited License Professional Counselor. In the past, he has also held a license as a Licensed Bachelor Social Worker. Tim and his business partner, Corey Volpi, started Freedom Counseling Center in 1998 to offer residents of Southwest Michigan an opportunity to experience freedom in their lives.
Tim has over 15 years of experience counseling a vast variety of individuals, couples, and families. For a number of years, he has worked with children, teenagers, and families referred to him for abuse and neglect by the Department of Human Services.
He also has a special interest in the field of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). For 16 years, he served as a team member, board member, and Clinical Director for the Berrien County Critical Incident Stress Management board. He also served on the Michigan Crisis Response Association’s State Board of Directors for five years. In the months following the attacks on the World Trade Center, Tim provided Critical Incident Stress Management consulting services to those in the New York Police Department and the New York City Fire Department. He has also provided CISM services for Berrien RESA, Lake Michigan College, and the state of Michigan.
