Ria Ferguson

Counseling Intern

Ria is a driven and dedicated graduate student, currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Andrews University. As part of her academic journey, Ria is also serving as a counseling intern at Freedom, where she is able to gain hands-on experience in the field.

Ria’s approach to counseling is holistic and person-centered, meaning that she considers all aspects of a person’s life in order to guide them on a positive journey towards growth and healing. She believes in the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients, based on trust, empathy, and understanding. This enables her to create a safe and welcoming space for clients to openly express their thoughts and emotions.

In her work, Ria is particularly passionate about helping clients change their perspectives on life. She understands that one’s outlook on life can greatly impact mental health and aims to encourage her clients to see things from a different light. This involves challenging negative thought patterns, exploring new ways of thinking and finding healthy coping mechanisms.

Ria also believes in the power of art and creativity as a means of expression and self-discovery. She encourages her clients to engage in artistic expression during sessions if they choose to do so.

Ria’s warm and welcoming demeanor makes her approachable to clients from all walks of life. She values diversity and recognizes that each individual is unique, with their own set of experiences.
