Kaitlyn Smith

Kaitlyn Smith graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2009. She then went on to graduate school at Western Michigan University, studying Counselor Education with a focus in Marriage, Couples, and Family counseling. Kaitlyn graduated from WMU in 2012, then moved to Indiana where she worked for the first 7 years of her career. She is now a fully Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) in the state of Michigan and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Kaitlyn has experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families at various stages of life.

Therapy is an intimate experience and important for each person to feel their therapist is a solid match. Kaitlyn believes in meeting the person where they are currently and assisting them in finding a healthy path to improved quality of life. Areas of knowledge include anxiety, depression, posttraumatic and acute stress disorders, low self esteem, stage of life transitions, grief, family dynamic issues, and couple/marital difficulties. Theoretical approaches include Mindfulness Based Cognitive therapy, DBT informed strategies, Emotionally Focused, Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment, and trauma informed strategies.
